Read this little bit by brsis about the function of so-called “parasol pockets”. They’re obviously meant to carry something, seeing as they’re always found on walking and promenade dresses, but what? Why are some of them so shallow? We don’t get a clear impression of this from fashion plates and other primary sources, at least as far as I’m aware.
Does anybody have an answer?
