Jacket, 1610-15 (with later alterations) England, MFA Boston
There is a tradition that this jacket was worn by Queen Elizabeth I and given away in 1578 to the family of Roger Wodehouse as a gift in honor of his knighting. However, the jacket dates to after Queen Elizabeth’s death. It was probably worn by Grizell Wodehouse, daughter-in-law of Roger Wodehouse.
Check out the intricate embroidery. There is ACTUAL silver in the threads.
