The perfect summer striped dress and red stiletto mules, 1957.
Blue satin cocktail dress, c. 1960 - pretty perfect for an early summer party. Not quite a bubble or bouffant skirt popular at that time, this style would be a bit more flattering to the wearer. The satin and velveteen flower adds a bit of interest and fun to the look. Specializing in ready-to-wear, hip fashions in the 1950s & 1960s, Lorrie Deb / San Francisco designed this cute little dress.
It was probably purchased at one of the fashionable dress shops in town.
Gift of Mrs. Margaret James in 1977
This dress is currently on exhibit in Charleston Couture

Some items have been on exhibit, some will eventually be shown in our new Historic Textiles Gallery and some may be just too fragile to display. We hope you enjoy our selection each week – do let us know if there’s something in particular you’d like to see on TEXTILE TUESDAY! #TextileTuesday
